Kepler-79 is a Sun-like F-type star (about 1.24 solar masses, 6,389 K, 1.32 solar radii), 1,021 light-years from Earth. Kepler-79 hosts four low-density planets near resonance, puffy worlds whose timing variations reveal surprisingly small masses. Kepler-79 b is a 7.6-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 13.5 days, discovered in 2012 via transit. Kepler-79 c is a 4.6-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 27.4 days, discovered in 2012 via transit. Kepler-79 d is a 5.3-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 52.1 days, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.05), discovered in 2014 via transit. Kepler-79 e is a 3.8-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 81.1 days, discovered in 2014 via transit.
