K2-266 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.69 solar masses, 4,285 K, 0.70 solar radii), 77.6 light-years from Earth. K2-266's innermost ultra-short-period planet is strongly misaligned with the outer planets, a rare broken architecture. K2-266 b is a 11.3-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 15.8 hours, at 0.013 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 1,515 K, discovered in 2018 via transit. K2-266 c is a 0.3-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 7.8 days, at 0.068 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 665 K, discovered in 2018 via transit. With 4 confirmed worlds, K2-266 is a densely packed system whose resonances, spacing, and formation history are active research topics.
