Kepler-23 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.08 solar masses, 5,828 K, 1.55 solar radii), 836 light-years from Earth. Kepler-23 b is a 2.6-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 7.1 days, discovered in 2011 via transit. Kepler-23 c is a 7.8-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 10.7 days, discovered in 2011 via transit. Kepler-23 d is a 4.4-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 15.3 days, discovered in 2014 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry.
