GJ 357 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.34 solar masses, 3,505 K, 0.34 solar radii), 31 light-years from Earth. GJ 357 combines a transiting hot Earth with a non-transiting outer planet in the habitable zone of a nearby red dwarf. GJ 357 b is a planet with 1.2 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 3.9 days, at 0.036 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 518 K, discovered in 2019 via transit. GJ 357 c is a 3.4-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 9.1 days, at 0.061 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 401 K, discovered in 2019 via radial velocity.
