GJ 163 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.40 solar masses, 3,500 K), 15.1 light-years from Earth. GJ 163 b is a 10.6-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 8.6 days, at 0.061 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.07), discovered in 2013 via radial velocity. GJ 163 c is a 6.8-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 25.6 days, at 0.125 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.10), discovered in 2013 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
