WASP-53 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.84 solar masses, 4,953 K, 0.80 solar radii), 201 light-years from Earth. WASP-53 b is a 2.13-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 3.3 days, at 0.041 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 1,053 K, discovered in 2017 via transit. WASP-53 c is a 16.4-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 7.78 years, at 3.730 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.84), discovered in 2017 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
