LP 890-9 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.12 solar masses, 2,850 K, 0.16 solar radii), 32.4 light-years from Earth. LP 890-9 (SPECULOOS-2) is an ultracool dwarf with two Earth-sized planets, the outer one transiting in the habitable zone. LP 890-9 b is a 13.2-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 2.7 days, at 0.019 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 396 K, discovered in 2022 via transit. LP 890-9 c is a 0.08-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 8.5 days, at 0.040 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 272 K, discovered in 2022 via transit. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
