LkCa 15 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 1.00 solar masses, 4,194 K, 1.61 solar radii), 158 light-years from Earth. LkCa 15 b is a confirmed exoplanet, at 14.7 AU from its star, discovered in 2015 via direct imaging. LkCa 15 c is a confirmed exoplanet, at 18.6 AU from its star, discovered in 2015 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
