Kepler-87 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.10 solar masses, 5,600 K, 1.82 solar radii), 1,233 light-years from Earth. Kepler-87 b is a 1.02-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 115 days, at 0.481 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 478 K, discovered in 2013 via transit. Kepler-87 c is a 6.4-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 191 days, at 0.676 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 403 K, discovered in 2013 via transit. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
