Kepler-59 is a Sun-like F-type star (about 1.04 solar masses, 6,074 K, 0.94 solar radii), 1,163 light-years from Earth. Kepler-59 b is a planet with 1.1 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 11.9 days, discovered in 2012 via transit. Kepler-59 c is a planet with 2.0 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 18.0 days, discovered in 2012 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry.
