Kepler-50 is a Sun-like F-type star (about 1.24 solar masses, 6,225 K, 1.58 solar radii), 250 light-years from Earth. Kepler-50 b is a planet with 1.7 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 7.8 days, at 0.077 AU from its star, discovered in 2012 via transit. Kepler-50 c is a planet with 2.2 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 9.4 days, at 0.087 AU from its star, discovered in 2012 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry.
