Kepler-240 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.87 solar masses, 4,985 K, 0.74 solar radii), 747 light-years from Earth. Kepler-240 b is a planet with 1.4 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 4.1 days, at 0.048 AU from its star, discovered in 2014 via transit. Kepler-240 c is a planet with 2.2 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 8.0 days, at 0.074 AU from its star, discovered in 2014 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry.
