Kepler-1972 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.12 solar masses, 5,818 K, 1.38 solar radii), 287 light-years from Earth. Kepler-1972 b is a 2.0-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 7.5 days, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.07), discovered in 2022 via transit. Kepler-1972 c is a 2.1-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 11.3 days, discovered in 2022 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry.
