K2-59 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.77 solar masses, 5,055 K, 0.73 solar radii), 311 light-years from Earth. K2-59 c is a planet with 2.3 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 11.3 days, at 0.090 AU from its star, discovered in 2016 via transit. K2-59 b is a planet with 2.4 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 20.7 days, at 0.135 AU from its star, discovered in 2016 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry.
