K2-189 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.85 solar masses, 5,442 K, 0.88 solar radii), 242 light-years from Earth. K2-189 b is a planet with 1.4 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 2.6 days, and an equilibrium temperature near 1,203 K, discovered in 2018 via transit. K2-189 c is a planet with 2.3 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 6.7 days, and an equilibrium temperature near 877 K, discovered in 2018 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry.
