HD 48265 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.38 solar masses, 5,805 K), 90.5 light-years from Earth. HD 48265 b is a 1.52-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 2.13 years, at 1.814 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.21), discovered in 2008 via radial velocity. HD 48265 c is a 4.45-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 28.5 years, at 10.4 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.41), discovered in 2026 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
