HD 43197 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.96 solar masses, 5,508 K), 62.4 light-years from Earth. HD 43197 b is a 0.55-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 309 days, at 0.882 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.74), discovered in 2010 via radial velocity. HD 43197 c is a 7.87-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 25.5 years, at 8.540 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.15), discovered in 2022 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
