HD 38529 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.98 solar masses, 5,697 K), 42.4 light-years from Earth. HD 38529 b is a 0.65-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 14.3 days, at 0.115 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.26), discovered in 2000 via radial velocity. HD 38529 c is a 10.4-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 5.83 years, at 3.226 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.36), discovered in 2000 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
