HD 169830 is a Sun-like F-type star (about 1.17 solar masses, 6,300 K), 37.6 light-years from Earth. HD 169830 b is a 2.53-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 226 days, at 0.765 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.29), discovered in 2000 via radial velocity. HD 169830 c is a 7.67-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 4.98 years, at 3.075 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.25), discovered in 2003 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
