HD 168443 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.98 solar masses, 5,491 K), 39.6 light-years from Earth. HD 168443 b is a 7.63-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 58.1 days, at 0.292 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.53), discovered in 1998 via radial velocity. HD 168443 c is a 17.3-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 4.80 years, at 2.842 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.21), discovered in 2000 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
