HD 1461 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.02 solar masses, 5,765 K), 23.5 light-years from Earth. HD 1461 b is a 6.4-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 5.8 days, at 0.063 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.17), discovered in 2010 via radial velocity. HD 1461 c is a 5.6-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 13.5 days, at 0.112 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.30), discovered in 2015 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
