HD 12661 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.02 solar masses, 5,748 K, 1.11 solar radii), 37.8 light-years from Earth. HD 12661 b is a 2.43-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 263 days, at 0.840 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.38), discovered in 2000 via radial velocity. HD 12661 c is a 1.81-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 4.68 years, at 2.814 AU from its star, discovered in 2002 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
