GJ 682 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.27 solar masses, 3,028 K), 5.0 light-years from Earth. GJ 682 b is a 4.4-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 17.5 days, at 0.080 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.08), discovered in 2014 via radial velocity. GJ 682 c is a 8.7-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 57.3 days, at 0.176 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.10), discovered in 2014 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
