GJ 1002 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.12 solar masses, 3,024 K, 0.14 solar radii), 4.8 light-years from Earth. GJ 1002 hosts two Earth-mass planets in the habitable zone of a nearby quiet red dwarf. GJ 1002 b is a 1.1-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 10.3 days, at 0.046 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 231 K, discovered in 2022 via radial velocity. GJ 1002 c is a 1.4-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 21.2 days, at 0.074 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 182 K, discovered in 2022 via radial velocity.
