BD-08 2823 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.74 solar masses, 4,746 K), 41.3 light-years from Earth. BD-08 2823 b is a 12.7-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 5.6 days, at 0.060 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.15), discovered in 2009 via radial velocity. BD-08 2823 c is a 0.33-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 238 days, at 0.680 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.19), discovered in 2009 via radial velocity. Mutual gravitational tugs between the planets can slowly reshape their orbits, preserving clues to the system's assembly.
