WASP-157 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.06 solar masses, 5,772 K, 1.10 solar radii), 334 light-years from Earth. WASP-157 b is a planet with 11.2 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 4.0 days, at 0.050 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 1,193 K, discovered in 2016 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry. WASP-157 b skims its star closer than Mercury orbits the Sun.
