TOI-5688 A is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.60 solar masses, 3,713 K, 0.57 solar radii), 226 light-years from Earth. TOI-5688 A b is a 0.39-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 2.9 days, at 0.034 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 742 K, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.13), discovered in 2024 via transit. The inner world is a hot Jupiter — a gas giant hugging its star at a fraction of Mercury's distance — a class that forced astronomers to rethink how giant planets form and migrate inward.
