TOI-530 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.53 solar masses, 3,659 K, 0.54 solar radii), 149 light-years from Earth. TOI-530 b is a 0.40-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 6.4 days, at 0.052 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 565 K, discovered in 2021 via transit. The inner world is a hot Jupiter — a gas giant hugging its star at a fraction of Mercury's distance — a class that forced astronomers to rethink how giant planets form and migrate inward. TOI-530 b orbits well inside Earth's distance from the Sun.
