TOI-4551 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 1.31 solar masses, 4,896 K, 3.55 solar radii), 216 light-years from Earth. TOI-4551 b is a 1.49-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 10.0 days, at 0.099 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.10), discovered in 2023 via transit. The inner world is a hot Jupiter — a gas giant hugging its star at a fraction of Mercury's distance — a class that forced astronomers to rethink how giant planets form and migrate inward.
