TIC 172900988 Aa is a Sun-like F-type star (about 1.24 solar masses, 6,050 K, 1.38 solar radii), 251 light-years from Earth. TIC 172900988 b is a 2.96-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 200 days, at 0.903 AU from its star, discovered in 2021 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry. TIC 172900988 b circles its star within the inner habitable zone. The planet's large radius (11.3 Earth radii) indicates a bloated atmosphere heated by intense stellar radiation.
