Oph 11 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.02 solar masses, 2,375 K). Oph 11 b is a 14.0-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 19,986 years, at 243 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 2,175 K, discovered in 2006 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. Oph 11 b orbits far from its host star. With an equilibrium temperature around 2,175 K, the dayside atmosphere is hot enough to vaporise many common minerals.
