OGLE-2016-BLG-1190L is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.88 solar masses, 5,778 K), 6,770 light-years from Earth. OGLE-2016-BLG-1190L b is a 13.4-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 3.34 years, at 2.170 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.42), discovered in 2017 via microlensing. Microlensing detections occur when a foreground star's gravity briefly magnifies a background source, revealing planets that are otherwise too faint and distant to observe directly. The planet's marked eccentricity suggests past scattering events or perturbations from unseen companions.
