mu Leo is an orange K-type dwarf (about 1.50 solar masses, 4,538 K, 11.4 solar radii), 32.6 light-years from Earth. mu Leo b is a 2.40-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 358 days, at 1.100 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.09), discovered in 2014 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. mu Leo b orbits at roughly the distance of Mars from the Sun.
