MOA-bin-29 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.03 solar masses, 5,778 K), 7,120 light-years from Earth. MOA-bin-29 b is a 0.60-Jupiter-mass companion, at 0.480 AU from its star, discovered in 2019 via microlensing. Microlensing detections occur when a foreground star's gravity briefly magnifies a background source, revealing planets that are otherwise too faint and distant to observe directly. MOA-bin-29 b circles its star within the inner habitable zone. At roughly 7,120 light-years, MOA-bin-29 lies far beyond the nearest stars yet remains reachable to large survey telescopes.
