MOA-2010-BLG-328L is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.11 solar masses, 5,778 K), 810 light-years from Earth. MOA-2010-BLG-328L b is a 9.2-Earth-mass planet, at 0.920 AU from its star, discovered in 2013 via microlensing. Microlensing detections occur when a foreground star's gravity briefly magnifies a background source, revealing planets that are otherwise too faint and distant to observe directly. MOA-2010-BLG-328L b circles its star within the inner habitable zone. Its low mass makes MOA-2010-BLG-328L b a Neptune- or super-Earth-class world rather than a gas giant. At roughly 810 light-years, MOA-2010-BLG-328L lies far beyond the nearest stars yet remains reachable to large survey telescopes.
