Kepler-693 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.76 solar masses, 4,881 K, 0.72 solar radii), 1,152 light-years from Earth. Kepler-693 b is a planet with 10.2 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 15.4 days, discovered in 2016 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry. The planet's large radius (10.2 Earth radii) indicates a bloated atmosphere heated by intense stellar radiation. At roughly 1,152 light-years, Kepler-693 lies far beyond the nearest stars yet remains reachable to large survey telescopes.
