Kepler-452 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.04 solar masses, 5,757 K, 1.11 solar radii), 552 light-years from Earth. Kepler-452 b, Earth's older cousin, is a super-Earth in the habitable zone of a Sun-like star older than the Sun. Kepler-452 b is a planet with 1.6 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 1.05 years, at 1.046 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 265 K, discovered in 2015 via transit. At least one planet may receive an Earth-like flux of starlight, placing this system on the short list of potentially habitable worlds worth detailed atmospheric study. Kepler-452 b orbits at roughly the distance of Mars from the Sun.
