Kepler-440 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.57 solar masses, 4,134 K, 0.56 solar radii), 301 light-years from Earth. Kepler-440 b is a planet with 1.9 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 101 days, at 0.242 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.34), discovered in 2015 via transit. At least one planet may receive an Earth-like flux of starlight, placing this system on the short list of potentially habitable worlds worth detailed atmospheric study. The planet's marked eccentricity suggests past scattering events or perturbations from unseen companions.
