Kepler-439 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.88 solar masses, 5,431 K, 0.87 solar radii), 757 light-years from Earth. Kepler-439 b is a planet with 2.2 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 178 days, at 0.563 AU from its star, discovered in 2015 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry. Kepler-439 b circles its star within the inner habitable zone. At roughly 757 light-years, Kepler-439 lies far beyond the nearest stars yet remains reachable to large survey telescopes.
