Kepler-1034 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.83 solar masses, 5,198 K, 0.80 solar radii), 655 light-years from Earth. Kepler-1034 b is a planet with 2.3 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 12.1 days, discovered in 2016 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry. At roughly 655 light-years, Kepler-1034 lies far beyond the nearest stars yet remains reachable to large survey telescopes.
