kap CrB is an orange K-type dwarf (about 1.33 solar masses, 4,840 K, 4.68 solar radii), 30.1 light-years from Earth. kap CrB b is a 1.52-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 3.43 years, at 2.500 AU from its star, discovered in 2007 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. kap CrB b circles in the outer system, comparable to the Jupiter region.
