K2-73 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.02 solar masses, 5,867 K, 1.06 solar radii), 269 light-years from Earth. K2-73 b is a 9.2-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 7.5 days, and an equilibrium temperature near 968 K, discovered in 2016 via transit. K2-73 c is a 3.59-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 2.74 years, and an equilibrium temperature near 186 K, discovered in 2025 via radial velocity. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry.
