K2-181 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.96 solar masses, 5,528 K, 1.06 solar radii), 361 light-years from Earth. K2-181 b is a planet with 2.7 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 6.9 days, and an equilibrium temperature near 949 K, discovered in 2018 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry. Repeated transit observations constrain the planet's orbital inclination and stellar density, anchoring the system's physical scale.
