K2-10 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.88 solar masses, 5,533 K, 0.96 solar radii), 272 light-years from Earth. K2-10 b is a 0.08-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 19.3 days, and an equilibrium temperature near 649 K, discovered in 2015 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry. Its low mass makes K2-10 b a Neptune- or super-Earth-class world rather than a gas giant.
