HR 2562 is a Sun-like F-type star (about 1.30 solar masses, 6,597 K), 34.0 light-years from Earth. HR 2562 b is a massive companion imaged inside a debris disk, near the boundary between planets and brown dwarfs. HR 2562 b is a 22.0-Jupiter-mass companion, at 22.2 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.34), discovered in 2016 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. The planet's marked eccentricity suggests past scattering events or perturbations from unseen companions. HR 2562 b orbits far from its host star.
