HIP 91258 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.97 solar masses, 5,519 K, 0.89 solar radii), 45.9 light-years from Earth. HIP 91258 b is a 1.09-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 5.1 days, at 0.060 AU from its star, discovered in 2013 via radial velocity. The inner world is a hot Jupiter — a gas giant hugging its star at a fraction of Mercury's distance — a class that forced astronomers to rethink how giant planets form and migrate inward. HIP 91258 b orbits well inside Earth's distance from the Sun.
