HIP 79098 AB is a bright A-type star (about 3.75 solar masses, 9,194 K), 146 light-years from Earth. HIP 79098 AB b is a 20.5-Jupiter-mass companion, at 345 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 2,450 K, discovered in 2019 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. HIP 79098 AB b orbits far from its host star. With an equilibrium temperature around 2,450 K, the dayside atmosphere is hot enough to vaporise many common minerals.
