HIP 66074 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.70 solar masses, 4,300 K, 0.69 solar radii), 35.4 light-years from Earth. HIP 66074 b is a 5.00-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 311 days, at 0.799 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.95), discovered in 2023 via astrometry. HIP 66074 adds another data point to the growing catalogue of planetary systems whose masses, orbits, and host-star properties constrain models of planet formation. The planet's marked eccentricity suggests past scattering events or perturbations from unseen companions.
