HIP 65891 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 2.50 solar masses, 5,000 K, 8.93 solar radii), 150 light-years from Earth. HIP 65891 b is a 6.10-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 2.98 years, at 2.820 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.09), discovered in 2015 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. HIP 65891 b circles in the outer system, comparable to the Jupiter region.
