HIP 5763 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.72 solar masses, 4,352 K), 31.9 light-years from Earth. HIP 5763 b is a 0.51-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 30.0 days, at 0.170 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.05), discovered in 2021 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. HIP 5763 b orbits well inside Earth's distance from the Sun.
